The Alliance Interop Lab and Two New Certification Programs
The Alliance announced the FastTrack Recertification and the Portfolio Certification Programs. Additionally, Interop Lab test results for Matter devices are now accepted for Works With Apple Home, Alexa/Alexa+, Samsung SmartThings, and Google Home.
What's Next in IoT & AI in Health, Energy, and Smart Living
On January 8th. Alliance President and CEO Tobin Richardson joined LOOKOUT CEO David Rose for a thought-provoking fireside chat at CES 2025. They explored the future of IoT standards and the transformative role of AI in health, energy, and smart living.
The Alliance announced the release of Matter 1.4.1 with the features of Enhanced Setup Flow (ESF), Multi-Device Setup QR code, and Onboarding Info in NFC Tag, aimed at making device setup and regulatory compliance easier.
Zigbee Smart Energy 1.4a is the latest update to the leading standard for interoperable products managing electricity, gas, water, and heat, boosting security, and expanding certification capabilities and test case coverage.

Celebrating One Year of Impact
We proudly marked the first anniversary of the Japan Interest Group, a Member-led initiative driving awareness and adoption of Alliance technologies in Japan. Over the past year, this dedicated group of volunteers has grown participation to over 60 Member companies, represented the Alliance at major industry events, and launched localization efforts to promote adoption of Alliance technologies.
